Well done on setting up your first sensor!

Most of the hard work is over now. While you are waiting for your sensor to initialize, please read through these tips and action points to help you get off to the best start with Veri.

Key points to remember in the first few hours and days:

1) The sensors have a calibration period

While you have started the 60-minute initialization, sometimes the initialization can take a little longer than 60 minutes.

When the 60-minute initialization is complete, your sensor will continue to calibrate for the next 24 hours. The device works within a margin of error and the margin is expected to be higher on days 1-2 and 13-14 of the sensor’s lifespan. If your readings are a little higher or lower than you would expect for the first and last couple of days, this is normal. There’s no need to panic!

The sensors have internal mechanisms to alert users to sensor malfunction. If your sensor is reading higher or lower than expected, we ask that you wait 24 hours to see if the readings stabilize before contacting Support for assistance.

If your sensor seems ‘stuck’ in initialization, or keeps reverting to the initialization screen for 4 hours or more, please reach out to our Customer Support team via the in-app chat; we’ll be happy to help.

You can read more about possible reasons for receiving low glucose readings here.

2) CGM readings ≠ finger prick (glucometer) readings

It is expected that there will be some discrepancy between your CGM and glucometer (finger prick device) if you are comparing readings. This article explains why this is the case in detail if you are interested to read more!

We recommend focusing more on the trends of your blood sugar if monitoring outside of medical use. Paying more attention to spikes, fluctuations, and stability; rather than the exact numbers from one minute to the next.

3) Temperature can affect your readings

High or low temperatures can affect your glucose readings, and extreme heat or cold can lead to an error message such as 'reading unavailable' - this is nothing to worry about. Simply give it an hour or two for your sensor to either warm up or cool down then scan again if using Freestyle Libre 1 or 2; or wait for your next reading if using Libre 3.

Action points to make your Veri start as smooth as possible

1) Sync your Freestyle LibreLink app with Veri

If you haven’t already, ensure that your Veri and Freestyle LibreLink apps are synced. This can seem like a little bit of a process but it usually takes less than 5 minutes, this article will walk you through the steps.

2) Set up Veri app integrations

Veri offers several direct app integrations to ensure that you can easily track lifestyle factors such as exercise, steps, and sleep. These include Apple Health, GoogleFit, Oura, and Fitbit.

Learn how to set up these app integrations here.

3) Set up Veri and Freestyle LibreLink app notifications

The Freestyle LibreLink and Veri apps both offer notifications to ensure that you can make the most out of them! We have found that Veri users generally prefer to turn their LibreLink high and low glucose alarm notifications off. It is possible to turn the LibreLink alarms off via the LibreLink app Settings, a detailed guide on how to do this can be found here.

In the Veri app, you can receive notifications for when:

1) You have not received glucose data for 8 hours

2) Your meal score is ready (2 hours after recording the start of a meal)

3) The educational content of your Veri Program is available for the day

The Veri app notifications can be managed through the Veri app Settings. This guide will walk you through the steps in detail.
